About the program

AlphaLab Health is a healthcare and life sciences startup accelerator launched in 2020 as a partnership between Allegheny Health Network, Highmark Health and Innovation Works, with support from Pittsburgh-area universities, corporations and foundations. It follows Innovation Works' accelerator model, providing seed funding, mentorship, clinical resources and workspace to early-stage companies in diagnostics, therapeutics, health IT, medical devices and packaging. Participating startups receive up to $100,000 in seed investment plus access to AHN researchers and clinicians, industry leaders, early customers, potential investors and mentors. The program operates from a 10,000-square-foot facility with wet and dry labs, dedicated offices, conference rooms and collaboration space at the former Allegheny General Hospital Suburban campus in Bellevue, Pennsylvania. It is distinct from Highmark Ventures, the system's separate investment arm.
