Johns Hopkins CBID sits at the intersection of the Whiting School of Engineering and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and trains teams to invent, prototype and commercialize medical devices. Its intensive one-year Master of Science in Engineering program compresses two to three years of design education into a single year, with students completing clinical rotations inside Johns Hopkins Medicine and at international sites before building devices against observed needs. Clinical faculty and Hopkins physicians serve as project sponsors and mentors, so device concepts originate from real bedside problems.
