About the program
Yale CBIT was established in 2014 to educate the next generation of biomedical innovators and support commercialization of biomedical technology discovered at Yale, with an explicit focus on data science, diagnostics and devices. It offers clinicians, students and faculty a structured pathway from idea submission through mentorship, funding opportunities and courses, and it runs a Leadership Innovation Fellowship for clinical innovators. Events such as Clinical Pitch Night connect Yale New Haven Hospital clinicians with engineers, designers and investors, and the CBIT Mentors program pairs teams with experienced advisors. The center is co-directed by a biomedical engineering professor and a practicing neurosurgeon who is also Vice President of Surgical Services at Yale New Haven Hospital, and it operates under the Yale Ventures umbrella.
