About the program
The Center for Healthcare Innovation is the implementation-focused innovation engine inside Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, built around the premise that it takes an average of 17 years to move medical discoveries into mainstream care and that the gap can be narrowed. Rather than waiting for conventional commercialization, CHI takes published research findings, practices and products directly into clinical settings, and evaluates novel ideas that make clinicians more efficient. It runs LAUNCH, an annual innovation incubator, competition and accelerator whose winners receive funding, with past winners working on dementia care, blood pressure management, cognitive health and fall prevention. Its active project portfolio includes D-Care for dementia care, HN-STAR for head and neck cancer survivors, IGLOO for blood pressure management, mPATH, MindCare365 and PATINA+. It offers membership to Advocate Health and Wake Forest University-affiliated researchers and collaboration partnerships to external organizations, and works alongside Wake Forest Innovations and the Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
