About the program
Protostudios is the University of Iowa Office of Innovation's rapid-prototyping facility, opened in June 2017, that converts clinical and entrepreneurial ideas into functional prototypes using CAD design, additive manufacturing and machining. It operates the Anatomical and Medical Device Printing Bureau at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and serves inventors, startups, and medical and educational personnel at below-market nonprofit rates. It reports more than 167 clients, 276 projects and 19,000 3D prints since opening.
