About the program
The Engine is a nonprofit incubator and accelerator established by MIT in 2016 to support early-stage Tough Tech companies, with biotech and life sciences among its 15 industry areas. Resident companies get access to roughly 220,000 square feet of wet lab and engineering space plus programming, mentorship and ecosystem connections. Its investment arm spun out as the independent firm Engine Ventures in 2023. The Engine reports 135+ resident companies, 736 Blueprint graduates and $5.5B raised across its community.
