About the program

BioVentures is the technology transfer and commercialization office for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, managing the intellectual property generated across UAMS's colleges, institutes and clinical enterprise. It handles patent filing, copyright and trademark protection, licensing strategy and agreement negotiation, market analysis and business model development for faculty inventions. BioVentures also supports startup formation directly, offering entrepreneurial guidance, incubator space and introductions to investors, plus help identifying and applying for grant funding. It runs the AR Health Ventures Accelerator (ARHVA), a cohort program that accelerates therapeutic and health-related innovations coming out of UAMS. Outside companies engage BioVentures as licensees, research collaborators and industry partners, and the office additionally provides regulatory and policy guidance and IP education for researchers.
