About the program

UCLA Biodesign is an early-stage health technology innovation program that runs a year-long, full-time fellowship for interdisciplinary teams drawn from medicine, engineering, design and business. Fellows complete clinical immersion inside UCLA Health, identify and screen unmet needs, build prototypes, and work toward venture formation with mentorship from healthcare leaders and investors. The program provides 24/7 access to creative workspace and equipment, and explicitly welcomes prospective and current first-year residents and clinical fellows who have departmental support, alongside MS/PhD engineers, designers and MBAs. It is housed within UCLA Health's innovation infrastructure and is affiliated with the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute.
