The Innovation Fellowship in Weill Cornell Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine is a one-year, non-ACGME post-graduate program that prepares emergency physicians to work at the intersection of innovation, entrepreneurship and healthcare enterprise. Fellows work 940 clinical hours a year (about 20 hours weekly) with reduced clinical duties from September through November for intensive coursework. The curriculum pairs the Jacobs Institute Runway Program at Cornell Tech, where fellows take startup strategy, customer development and entrepreneurship classes alongside MBA and engineering students, with the department's Healthcare Leadership and Management coursework on ED operations, informatics, coding and billing, compliance and hospital flow.
