The MemorialCare Innovation Fund is the strategic venture capital arm of MemorialCare Health System, a roughly $2 billion revenue Southern California nonprofit system. It provides growth capital to early- and mid-stage companies in healthcare information technology, healthcare services and medical devices. The fund is run by dedicated managing directors and is governed by a board chaired by MemorialCare's chief executive, with the system's chief medical officer and chief strategy officer also involved. Its differentiator is access to MemorialCare's hospitals, medical groups and outpatient network for validation and commercial reference. It is one of the longer-running provider venture funds on the West Coast and has produced multiple strategic exits.
