Advocate Aurora Enterprises was the investment and business-building arm of Advocate Aurora Health, now part of Advocate Health, the third-largest nonprofit health system in the country. Rather than making only minority venture investments, it acquired and operated consumer health and wellness businesses outright across three declared platforms: aging independently, parenthood and personal performance. It also led and participated in digital health venture rounds alongside other systems. Its highest-profile acquisition was Senior Helpers, a national non-clinical home care franchise operating in 44 states, Canada and Australia, bought in April 2021. Advocate sold Senior Helpers to private equity firm Waud Capital Partners in March 2024, less than three years after the purchase, marking a significant retrenchment of the platform strategy.
