What This Program Does

The Health Technology and Exploration Center is Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's center for evaluating and developing emerging healthcare technologies. It rapidly evaluates and develops high-risk, high-reward technologies to advance both BIDMC's own capabilities and those of partner organizations internationally. The center works through formalized affiliations and partnerships that extend BIDMC's health IT and informatics expertise to other institutions. Its focus areas include patient engagement, continuity of care, precision medicine and access to care, with the goal of building scalable technologies that make care more accessible, efficient and integrated. It is led from BIDMC's information systems organization and describes itself as the first center of its kind at a Harvard teaching hospital.
