Mandate and remit

What This Program Does

The Center for Digital Health, launched in 2020 as the joint Brown-Lifespan Center for Digital Health, is a research and innovation hub spanning Brown University and Brown University Health, formerly Lifespan. Its mission is to advance interdisciplinary research and innovation that develops, evaluates and translates digital health technologies to improve health outcomes, care delivery and health equity. The center brings together researchers, clinicians, engineers, students and industry partners, with expertise spanning medicine, public health, computer science and engineering. It operates a Digital Health Innovation Sandbox, a prototyping environment for developing and validating emerging digital health technologies, and it trains future digital health professionals. Outside companies engage as industry partners and through research collaborations, such as a partnership with Etiometry on adult critical care.
