The Pearl is Advocate Health and Atrium Health's innovation district in Charlotte's historic Brooklyn neighborhood, launched June 2, 2025 in partnership with Wexford Science & Technology and Ventas. It is designed as a physical ecosystem that co-locates medical education, research, industry partners and health technology companies so that surgeons, scientists, startups and students work in proximity. Its anchors are the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Charlotte campus, Charlotte's first four-year medical school, and IRCAD North America, the exclusive North American headquarters of the advanced surgical training institute. Siemens Healthineers operates a U.S. Experience Center in the district. Outside companies engage The Pearl as tenants, training partners and research collaborators rather than through an investment vehicle.
