What This Program Does

The Patient Care Services Research Fellowship is an 18-month hospital-based fellowship run by the Patient Care Services research team at Children's Hospital Colorado in partnership with the University of Colorado College of Nursing. Fellows combine didactic instruction with a mentored research experience: they develop their own research question with a faculty nurse scientist mentor, pursue funding and IRB approval, complete the study and publish the findings. The broader program also provides nurse-scientist mentorship on project design, literature review, statistical consultation and dissemination, plus workshops on research principles, evidence-based practice and quality improvement. The team engages externally through the National Pediatric Nurse Scientist Collaborative, which runs monthly calls and an annual conference for pediatric nurse scientists. Inquiries are handled through a dedicated nursing research mailbox.
