Virtually Integrated Care is CommonSpirit Health's system-wide virtual nursing program, in which remote nurses support bedside teams with admissions, discharges, documentation, education and second-nurse verification. The model was built internally and scaled across CommonSpirit's multi-state hospital footprint as a workforce and quality intervention rather than a purchased product. It sits alongside CommonSpirit's Care Base virtual hospital, robotic process automation for cancer-screening outreach, and an internally developed emergency department operations dashboard, which together form the system's operational innovation portfolio. VIC serves inpatient nurses and patients across CommonSpirit hospitals, and the system engages outside companies mainly through technology partnerships and its separate venture arm rather than through VIC directly.
