Mandate and remit

What This Program Does

The CHLA Innovation Studio incubates and accelerates processes and technologies that solve complex problems in pediatric health care, working across four pillars: care model innovation, technology advancement, idea incubation and digital health equity. It uses human-centered design to surface care delivery problems and build solutions, and operates a Digital Health Lab that develops digital therapeutics, clinical education tools and patient and provider experience technology. Programs include Connected Care telehealth and online second opinions, a mental well-being initiative for teens, and patient-centered diabetes care redesign. Outside companies engage principally through KidsX.Health, the CHLA-founded consortium and accelerator that pairs digital health startups with pediatric hospitals, and through the West Coast Consortium for Technology and Innovation in Pediatrics. The studio serves CHLA clinicians and staff as well as external startups and partner children's hospitals.
