Mandate and remit
ChristianaCare's Health & Technology Innovation Center is the system's innovation unit, led by a vice president of innovation, and its flagship program is the biennial ChristianaCare Innovation Challenge, established in 2016. Caregivers across the system submit ideas for new technology, apps or care innovations over the summer, and judges score them on potential impact, viability and alignment with ChristianaCare's aspirations to end disparities, simplify access and keep people healthy at home. Four finalists deliver 15-minute pitches at the Innovation Summit finale, a two-day conference held at ChristianaCare's Newark, Delaware campus. Winners receive development support from the Innovation Center team to bring their ideas to fruition rather than a cash prize alone. The center is separate from ChristianaCare's Nursing Research Fellowship in Robotics and Innovation and works closely with the system's chief digital and information officer.
