Corewell Health Ventures is the venture investment arm of Corewell Health, the integrated Michigan system created by the merger of Spectrum Health and Beaumont Health, which also owns the Priority Health plan. The fund invests in growth-stage companies with existing customers and at least $1 million of revenue, and it explicitly excludes pre-revenue startups, Class III medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotech. Its thesis is anchored on Corewell's vision of personalized health that is simple, affordable and exceptional, and the payer-plus-provider structure lets it evaluate solutions on both sides of the risk equation. It makes direct investments and also commits capital to third-party venture funds, producing a large indirect portfolio. It invests rather than incubating companies.
Documented successes: Direct portfolio includes AvaSure, TigerConnect, Rad AI, Cadence, Ciitizen, eVideon, Gauss, Lumere, SpendMend, Leiters, KeyCare, Vynca, Socially Determined, ProCredEx and Arivale; indirect portfolio through fund commitments includes Livongo, Transcarent, Clarify Health, Brightline, NeuroFlow, OM1, Thyme Care, Curana Health and Medisafe; strategic fund relationships with 7wireVentures, Concord Health Partners, Heritage Group and BioStar Capital
