Mandate and remit
IdeaLab is a partnership between Rochester Regional Health and the Albert J. Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Rochester Institute of Technology. Twice a year, in spring and fall, the two organizations run a two-day intensive event in which multidisciplinary RIT student and faculty teams tackle four to six real clinical and operational challenges submitted by Rochester Regional Health. Teams brainstorm, design and build prototypes under the guidance of RIT faculty and Rochester Regional clinical sponsors, then present solutions on the second day. Promising concepts can advance into further research and product development. Outside companies engage as manufacturing and development partners that take IdeaLab concepts to market.
