What This Program Does

The UConn Nursing and Engineering Innovation Center pairs nurses, who are positioned to identify healthcare problems, with engineers who can translate those observations into working technology. The center organizes its work around four core areas: research, education, community engagement and technology transfer, explicitly including commercialization of nurse-identified inventions. It is co-directed by faculty from the School of Nursing and the College of Engineering and operates out of UConn Tech Park. Programs include seed grants, an innovation fellowship, senior design projects that pair engineering students with clinical problems, and an annual Innovation Forum.
