Mandate and remit
CMTI is the University of Rochester's medical technology innovation center, run through the Department of Biomedical Engineering and located steps from the University of Rochester Medical Center. It trains engineers in customer-focused medical device development through a structured annual cycle: summer clinical rotations in surgical specialties, fall needs assessment and concept development, and spring design refinement with regulatory and intellectual property strategy.
