Mandate and remit

What This Program Does

The Clinical Innovation Institute is Ascension's clinician-led unit for vetting and deploying new technology across the system's multi-state footprint. Launched in August 2025, it brings together a multidisciplinary team to evaluate technologies that streamline clinician workflows, reduce administrative burden and improve the patient and caregiver experience. The institute is directed jointly by four Ascension executives spanning clinical transformation, medical informatics, academics and clinical innovation. It also works to expand access to clinical trials for Ascension patients and to apply clinical data insights to care redesign. Outside companies engage it as the front door for having a solution assessed and, if validated, implemented across Ascension sites; it is distinct from Ascension Ventures, the system's separate venture capital arm.
