Mandate and remit

What This Program Does

The Steele Institute for Health Innovation is Geisinger's central innovation body, structured as a hub that coordinates nine internal development partner teams rather than as a single lab. Those partners are the Digital Transformation Office, Behavioral Insights Team, Clinical Redesign, Industry Partnerships, Health Innovations, Informatics Team, Intelligent Automation Hub, Payment Transformation and Artificial Intelligence. The institute's stated role is to support Geisinger's strategic pillars and translate the work of those teams into operational change across the system. It publishes a library of case studies covering machine learning, virtual reality, care gap closure and clinic utilization so that methods can be reused internally and externally. Outside organizations engage it through its Industry Partnerships team and a published contact inbox for collaboration or employment inquiries; it is distinct from Geisinger Ventures.
