What This Program Does

TMC Biodesign is a full-time, paid fellowship run by the Texas Medical Center Innovation Institute that assembles multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, engineers and business people to build healthcare startups. Fellows work through the identify-invent-implement innovation process, beginning with clinical immersion across TMC member institutions such as MD Anderson, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital. The program supplies stipends and health benefits, prototyping funding, access to Medical Device Labs @ TMC, seed funding for startup formation, and workspace inside the TMC Innovation Factory. Originally focused on medical devices and digital health, the fellowship has since expanded to additional health technology categories, and teams graduate as incorporated companies rather than as projects.
