What This Program Does

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia publishes a pediatric commercialization pathway that has been reorganized over the past decade. In 2015, CHOP created the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation to identify, evaluate, and develop digital, diagnostic, device, and therapeutic assets and to provide strategy, acceleration support, and investment capital toward a commercial exit or new-company formation. The CHOP Research Institute now presents Innovation Ventures as the primary gateway for researchers seeking to commercialize discoveries. Official pages state that Innovation Ventures is a team of licensing, business development, contracting, and investment professionals, and that the offices of Technology Transfer, Collaborative and Corporate Research Contracts, and the Innovation Ecosystem act as a one-stop shop for translation, development, and licensing. Becker's Healthcare reported in 2026 that Tom Wilton joined CHOP in 2025 as Senior Vice President of Innovation Ventures.
